The Penultimate Peril was an extremely exciting and eventful book. It was very surprising and mysterious as well. The Baudelaire orphans got even more unfortunate however but still met some people they never thought they would see again. Like Justice Strauss and Jerome Squalor. Both with the initals that the Baudelaires thought belonged to Jaques Snicket. Also they meet another one of the Snicket siblings. Kit is a pregnant woman who has been through as many perils in life as Violet, Klaus, and Sunny. Frank, a V.F.D. member and Ernest, his wicked twin brother run the hotel that the Orphans are sent to. It is supposed to be the last safe place. All that the V.F.D. members need will arrive on Thursday. The strange sugar bowl, the Quagmire triplets, and the rest of the volunteers.
