Bravo! This is the one word that describes my feelings for this book and its characters. A touching novel about an Afghan boy growing up in the 70s before the Russian invasion of Afghanistan, his flight to America and return to Afghanistan during the Taliban oppression. Seeing the Afghan history through the eyes of an Afghan is just amazing. I ended up learning a great deal about Afghanistan culture, history and strong love they have for their land. All of the praise that this book got was well deserved, every American should read this book. I don't remember a book that evoked such strong feelings. I found myself fighting off tears more times than I can count throughout this book. Present Tense should consider selling boxes of tissues with this book!
