Earth Day Art Contest
Present Tense, along with Genesee Community College, sponsored the second annual Earth Day Art Contest in 2009 to celebrate the spirit of Earth Day and the creative work of our community. An artist's reception was held on Saturday, May 2 at Present Tense to honor the winners and view their creative artwork. More than 30 entries were received for this year's contest! The following winners were awarded in each category:

Leah Reino, age 16, Franklinville NY for her poem Butterfly

- Of color, of wing, of vibrating, pulsing life

Kathryn Scarborough, age 19, of Basom NY for her wax hand sculpture

Margaret VanArsdale of Castile NY for her artwork entitled 167 Lids and Caps

Tyler Reese, age 9, of Le Roy NY for his man planting figurine made entirely from recycled materials

Aidan Hume, age 5, of Le Roy NY for his pig, "Jake," which he made from recycled materials
